Artisan Training Institute (ATI)

The Artisan Training Institute (ATI) is a technical training provider that provides practical and theoretical training in mining and construction related trades. ATI formerly Ikhaya Fundisa Techniskills Academy was established in 2008.

The Apprenticeship Bursary Programme is administered by the Artisan Training Institute (ATI) who are responsible for the technical selection and ongoing performance monitoring of the learners. ATI identifies the learners through a rigorous process which is meant to accomplish the following:

  • assess their attitude and capabilities,
  • direct them through a technical and support stream of training,
  • give them the capacity to be placed in gainful employment or start their own business.

The programme is designed to ensure that the delivery takes into account not only high-quality content material that is relevant, but offers experiential and practical learning that complements the content taught in the training centre. The Tiso Foundation Charitable Trust has been partnering with ATI for the past 16 years and this working relationship also extends and works through with the Fund.
